American University Graduation

My roommate Lisa graduated with her MFA from American University. Yay Lisa!

Monkey Twins

A baby shower cake for my friend Janine...She had twin boys. Cute monkeys for cute babies :)

Angel Babies

This cake was for a shower for 3 moms..2 having girls and one having a boy. It's entirely edible except for the halos and wings.

Snowflakes

The snowflakes are made from royal icing and like real snowflakes, each is unique. This cake served about 140 (not including the top tier) and each tier was a different flavor.

Bridal Bows

This cake was made to look like a gift...it's entirely covered in white fondant with a red fondant bow.

Dragonflies.

These dragonflies and the lily pads are made with fondant. The wings are painted like the baby clothes cake in the previous post.

Baby Clothes

Another baby shower cake for friends Jill and Andy. The clothes were cut from fondant and handpainted ...much like watercolor.

Just Ducky!

This cake was for a baby shower for my friends Leslie and Bryan.

50th Anniversary Cake

I made this cake for my boyfriend's parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary in February of 2004.

Final exam

This was the last cake I made for my Cake Decorating III course in December 2003. The flowers are royal icing in 3 shades of pink and the cake is covered in white fondant. I was very impressed with myself.

Progress!

These are two more cakes I made during the series of Wilton courses I took at the local Michael's craft store. Thing were looking better.

What's this all about?

I've decided this would be an easy way to post pictures of the cakes I make. Enjoy the pics and, if you're nice, enjoy some real live cake :). This is the first cake I ever decorated when I was taking my first class. What a disaster! Much like Hurricane Isabel which arrived the next day in September of 2003. I've come a long way.
